To All KCWD#1 Patrons:
As part of the Phase 2 Capital Project, the rebuild of the District Raw Water Intake Pump House requires that the contractor disconnect the old pumps and reconnect to a temporary pump to continue the flow of raw water to the Slow Sand Filters (SSF's). This will enable the remaining work to be done to replace the old pump house enclosure, reinforce the concrete pad, and install the new pumps, pipes, and electrical service. Starting at 7:00 AM, Monday, April 13th, the old pumps will be taken offline as the water intake pipe is connected to the temporary pump. The contractor anticipates that the disconnection and connection to the temporary pump will be completed no later than 4:00 PM on the same day, Monday, April 13th.
Prior to this work, the District will maximize water levels in all three SSF's, upper clearwell, contact chamber, and in both reservoirs. This amount of water in the system, prior to the disconnection, should be more than adequate to service the District demand during the shutdown, BUT AS A PRECAUTION AGAINST UNFORESEEN DIFFICULTIES, THE DISTRICT IS ASKING ALL PATRONS TO MINIMIZE WATER USE FROM 7:00 AM TO 4:00 PM ON MONDAY, APRIL 13TH, DURING THE SHUTDOWN. PLEASE ANTICIPATE THIS SHUTDOWN BY FILLING STOCK TANKS FOR ANIMALS, WATERING LANDSCAPE, ETC., BEFORE MONDAY AT 7:00 AM.
NOTE: The temporary pump will be run manually, and will be powered by generator, to keep water flowing to the SSF's until connection to line power can be established when the new pumphouse electrical panel is installed and energized.
Please let your neighbors know about this planned pump shutdown, as not all Patrons subscribe to the KCWD#1 Blog.
